Our Erika is coming to LBFF!

We’re excited to announce Our Erika (Meie Erika), as the latest addition to this year’s programme.

Our Erika follows Olympic track cyclist Erika Salumäe from an orphaned childhood through the Soviet sporting system to two Olympic gold medals in the individual sprint — at the 1988 Seoul Games and, four years later in Barcelona, for a newly independent Estonia. Behind the record times and medals, the film searches for the person underneath: what winning has cost her, and whether it has answered the questions she set out to answer.

Our Erika is the feature debut of director German Golub, and stars Karolin Jürise as Erika Salumäe. It is Estonia’s official submission for the 99th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category.
